About Immersive Histories: Dambusters
Immersive Histories: Dambusters is a virtual reality installation which allows audiences to experience the famous ‘Dambusters’ raid from a new and unique perspective; aboard the Lancaster leading the mission.
The thrilling experience surrounds the audience with a physical 1:1 reconstruction of the interior of the bomber, which in conjunction with stunning virtual reality visuals, immersive haptic feedback, hand tracking, spatialised audio and motion captured performance, transports audiences to the skies above the Möhne dam in 1943.
The historically accurate experience lasts for ten minutes and allows audiences to step into the position of the Navigator or Wireless Operator. It is installed at the Royal Air Force Museum in London.
Immersive Histories: Dambusters is funded by Digital Catapult and Arts Council England as a part of CreativeXR.
